The urge had become irresistible. By the end of that year Guevara laid plans for a trip from which he would never come home, even when he returned. He would return from the trip a changed man, in transition to some other conception of life. He was a traveler now; the act of discovery is not merely the basis of travel but also the quintessential revolutionary act. Every journey overturns the established order of one's own life, and all revolutionaries must begin by transforming themselves.

in and out

sonora, CA. jan 14.

Ricky went back to Alameda last night, and now I am here with Alex and his mother. Alex and I ran some errands, registering to vote and getting slippers at walmart and buying some milk. We took a trip out to see his uncle about 20 mins away and talked politics and adventure and society and responsibility. Back to his mom's house where we chatted about anything and everything. I already feel at home here.

Tomorrow we leave for Reno, NV to work for Senator Obama in his race for the presidency.
